June 2008 - Hot Summer in the City

The last week has been incredibly hot here in the Bay Area. On Friday, the kids and I hit the (air conditioned) de Young museum to see the Chihuly Exhibit. Even though they are young, they really enjoyed the fantastical glass sculptures - especially Rex. On Saturday, we hit the Alameda beach with the Levin-o-Garveys and some friends. Apparently, both my kids have no fear of the water. They played so much that Rex fell asleep before the trip to the ice cream shop and refused to wake up.
Sylvie turned 3 May 21st and had a whole string of parties (friends, pre-school, family). Rex quietly turned 1 on June 14th. He got a bunch of presents and a lot of love that day. All of a sudden, he's transformed from a baby to a little boy who loves his trucks and playing ball. He also decided that he is ready to walk. In the span of a week or so, he took his first steps and then started walking around the house! He and Sylvie are starting to "play" together and, sometimes, they just crack each other up. It's really wonderful to see that friendship developing. Sylvie says that Rex is her best friend.
Check out the photos in the slideshow from March and April. In the links section is a web link to a slideshow for May and June.
Love to all.

WOW -- thanks so much for the wonderful update, and for all of the photos! I really enjoyed going through them -- the bath pictures, camping shots, and the one of Sylvie in her purple princess slippers were especially heartwarming. It's so good to see you two with them -- the ones of Jolie on the beach with the kids was absolutely heartwarming. Love to you all... Nancy

I love all the photos! I just bought tickets for the homeland - choke - I had to go through a travel agent as a group to purchase 10 in a block. We will be there from July 1 -Aug 12 and might even have a new baby by then (nothing deffinate on that) good thing newborns don't need a seat! It would be great to see you - Josh and his kiddos will be there unless his orders make them move first. I'm trying to fish Fred over from Europe.....
hugs -
