January was a fun month. The kids and I headed out on adventures most Mondays and Fridays (Sylvie has pre-school on the other days).
One notable adventure was a Friday trip by ferry to San Francisco to check out the Yerba Buena Gardens with our friends Dave and Molly Reichmuth. We rode the carousel, played at the playground, checked out the ice skating rink, and took the girls for their first game of bowling. Here is Sylvie lugging her ball up to the alley. Can you believe they had toddler bowling shoes?
We also went canoeing one sunny Sunday in the Oakland estuary. It's fun to cruise by the marinas to check out the sailboats and awe inspiring to float past container ships being unloaded by the super cranes at the Port of Oakland. Here are some photos of that day:

Already adept at peeing in the woods, Sylvie has now progressed to a time-honored (Oakland) Ansley tradition - peeing off kayaks and canoes. Her Dad was so proud, he snapped this photo. He loves his tough outdoor girl.

Oh my goodness. A photo of your baby girl peeing off the side of the canoe... well, well!
Your kids are so cute! It's great to see I'm notthe only one blogging potty experiences. Obviously one lovely and loving family. :)

I have to say, the peeing-off-the-canoe feat is pretty impressive. That *is* one tough outdoor girl.
